Jillian Christine

For Jillian Christine, everything is a song. Her mom says, “she sings about singing! She came out of the womb singing!” Music resonates deeply within her soul and it’s the future she sees for herself.

Jillian loves performing, but she doesn’t want to be famous. For Jillian, it’s all about the music and staying true to her love for that. She has no desire to be shape shifted into what someone else tells her she has to be to pursue musical performance. Her desire it to share the beauty and the passion that fuels musicians with a world that is so in need of beauty.

Jillian Christine Music is a family affair. Jillian performs with her dad, Mike, who is her guitarist. Jillian’s mom, Amanda, is her manager. Our portrait style is very personal at JDP, so I end up spending a few hours planning the perfect session in a collaborative vision casting meeting. Plus the session is several hours. All this to say, I am typically able to get a read on the emotional temperature within a family.

My desire it to always be sensitive to the rough patch a family may be walking through and help them to connect with the love that I know is there, but sometimes feels overshadowed by a struggling time they are walking through. That’s pretty normal for the teen years. Which is why Jillian’s family stood out so remarkably. There was none of that usual teen tension and angst that typically characterizes the teen/parent relationship.

Instead, Jillian clearly sees her parents as a soft spot to land at the end of the day. She knows she is fully loved and rests in the comfort of that without the need to rebuff it and go her own way. The dynamic between the three of them was tender, encouraging and full of life.

Apparently, everywhere they go people see the special bond the three of them share and encourage them to keep performing together.

Jillian’s just 13 (the age Billie Eilish was when her music career was launched) but she brings a professional demeanor when she’s working. It’s all hands on deck for set up and tear down. Jillian takes her performances very seriously and treats every gig as a professional performance. She performs frequently at a variety of venues and it always asked to return.

Craziest part of all this is that Jillian’s dad played guitar through his teen years and always dreamed of performing. Then life got busy and adult responsibilities set in…he set his guitar down, for years. Amanda bought Mike a guitar for a Christmas gift and his passion was reignited. It wasn’t long before Jillian was singing beside him on stages all over the area!

For Jillian, the Rhythm Changes program at NCCS was where it all began. It was the impetus to give her performance opportunity and build her confidence as a performer. It’s where she discovered her love for stepping on stage and singing. She’s currently the lead singer for School of Rock music program at York County Day School.

Jillian has a soulful and gentle tone to her voice that makes you wanna pull up a chair, rest in the moment and find refreshment for your soul. It’s so incredible to think about the course she may be charting and with such a level head on her shoulders! I told her I felt like I was creating for a future Billie Eilish!

Jillian, Mike and Amanda–I wish you all the best as you grow as artists! You are a blessing to this world so desperate for more beauty and joy that the arts certainly supply! You can find, follow and book Jillian Christine Music on all the major socials! She will have a website soon!
