JDP senior Andy is examining next steps for his post high school life. He is interested in pursuing studies in bio-tech/bio-engineering. He has an upcoming congressional appointment to be considered for an appointment for the Naval Academy. Both his mother and father are graduates of the Academy and his mom worked at the Academy for years as well. He hopes to continue the family tradition!
Andy's friends describe him as a character who keeps them laughing. On the flip side, he's a 'by the book' kind of young man. This serves him well, even if it at times causes frustration for those doing life with him. Sounds like the perfect kind of Naval Academy candidate!
Andy took up playing guitar a year and a half ago and he is hooked! Rock is for sure his true love and Judas Priest and Journey are two of his faves. He is an 80's rocker through and through!

Andy loves the engineering program he is a part of at Glenelg High. It has helped to hone his perseverance and leadership qualities as he's helped to lead teams design robots to do ocean clean up. He's mostly interested in being in the shop to construct and troubleshoot the robots.
Andy helped to get a robotics team assembled at Glenelg that has now gone to the Worlds competition 2x since he's been involved! Andy sees beyond his own love for robotics and has a desire to see this program grow. He was instrumental in helping to launch Colosseum Clash, the first summer robotics program Glenelg offered to the community.
The robotics team took the lead in fundraising and gathering community support for this new camp offering. Andy is in a mentor role to help spark and feed excitement in younger students who are curious about designing robots. Part of the goal is to start growing these designers earlier on so when they arrive at high school they are ready to contribute to the designs right out of the gate. Andy's excitement about this program was palpable. An amazing camraderie was built amongst the team, complete with costumes and loads of memory making times! We wish you all the best as you continue to grow this program Andy!
