JDP senior Ava brings an electric intensity to her athletic pursuits that has been grown in the soil of trying to keep up with her two older athletic brothers. Former JDP seniors Kyle and Nick adore their little sister and she misses them now that they have their own apartment.
Ava shares her brothers incredible height and this has made her a key asset on her basketball teams over the years. She is 6' tall and grew 8" in 3 years ! Most notably, her FSK team won States last year and were greeted with a parade of exuberant welcomers when the bus rolled back into the school parking lot. What a great story Ava will have to be regaling her future grandchildren with when she's old and gray!
This segment below makes me want to paint Ava...what a work of art you are dear one!
Ava's friends know her as the spunky adventurer who is always up to try something new. She's made many friends on the field hockey fields, the basketball courts and the tracks over the years. She's made some of her most cherished memories and some of her most hilarious memories. She remembers her sophomore year basketball team being led by a brand new coach. First game of the season and her friend scored 30 points! As the girls were all celebrating, one slid in true cartoon fashion in some water on the floor. These are the kinds of memories that Ava will always carry with her.
Ava loves the game of field hockey. She's grateful to have had the same coach since she was in kindergarten. This spring Ava has her eyes on a record she's working towards for track and field as a high jumper. She's currently jumping 5'3, but her junior year record was 5'4. She holds the freshman and sophomore year high jump record for FSK. As a freshman Ava went to Nationals and placed 3rd! This was her first season competing at track and field!!
When Ava's not competing, she's likely cheering on a friend at one of their games. Or she's doing a friend's hair. Her dream is to do hair for a living because she loves being a part of passing on confidence to people, especially those she cares about. Ava has a big heart and is loved by so many!
We always meet prior to the portrait day to vision cast. Sadly, Ava had plans to incorporate her furry BFF Blossom. Blossom was a guinea pig Ava rescued after finding her wondering the streets of Frederick. The family nick named her Karen because she didn't like anyone except Ava for the longest time. Blossom did grow to love all the family, but sadly she passed away before Ava's portrait time. RIP sweet Blossom!
Ava's exploring her faith in Jesus and coming to know Him via His word. She's involved with Young Life and is eager to grow her faith.
Ava's mom Angie requested Ava include her blankie from childhood and we reproduce a photo from when Ava was little. I wonder if blankie will be passed onto Ava's children one day???
Ava I still remember so fondly the little nugget who came to my studio 10 years ago with her sweet mama for portraits. Your big beautiful soulful eyes enchanted my lens then and did so again. It's an honor to see the woman you are growing into and we are cheering you on over here at JDP!
