Equestrian Portraits JDP jr. Liv

Portraits should be a launchpad for your stories to be told. Stories bind us, especially when shared at a table. I can just imagine JDP jr. Liv sharing all the memories she made in her equestrian pursuits. She'll be regaling her grandchildren with stories about all the horses she loved, the jumps she made and the hours spent in the ring that all started because of a world wide pandemic.

Liv's brother Mason was here last year for his JDP senior session and had a blast! Mom and dad were so blown away, they couldn't wait 4 more years before they'd see Liv on their walls as well. So her portrait time was booked after they got home and hung up their wall art. This is why our JDP jr. brand was built years ago.

Liv and Lulu spent long days together during the Covid-19 lockdown. This was the time period Liv fell in love with riding. Lulu is an 11 year old chestnut mare. Apparently Lulu mimics Liv's equal parts sweet and sassy personality! However, Lulu has apparently bitten a few other horses which she comes by all on her own!

Liv knew from her first ride she had found a lifelong passion. Her current joy is found in jumping which fills the adrenaline junkie inside her. When she thinks back over her last 5 years as a rider, she does nostalgically miss the early days that we so carefree as a rider.

She has advanced and excelled as a rider, which translates to added pressure of professionalism that's expected from her by the riding circuit. Liv knows that her perfectionist standards come from deep inside her and compete with her desire for carefree joy. The struggle is real for so many.

Liv rides and boards at Bald Cypress Equestrian which is owned by an awesome young couple Hannah and Tyler for the past 6 years. They have been wonderful to Liv's family and Lulu, for which the whole family is very grateful! They were very welcoming for our portrait time as well!

Hannah is also Liv's trainer and is consistently blown away by how Liv hears complex instructions and corrections for techniques and she just gets it and does it. She does not need to repeat the same correction twice for Liv.

This is every coach's dream! Liv attributes this to feeling the connection between herself and Lulu. She follows the instruction and can tell how it just feels right on Lulu when she makes the correction.

Back at JDP, we have our very own photobomber who tries to sneak into every single session! Macy Mae is a staple around here!

Liv's been Lego obsessed for years. Her love of solving puzzles and building things really took off when she paired it with her love for Formula 1 racing. Liv's family turns the hobbies of their children into vacations so the whole family can make memories together. For Liv that meant a trip to Miami to watch the Grand Prix where she was able to see her actual race fave!

Liv's favorite driver is Lando Norris who she's followed loyally on Tik Tok! She's committed to what she calls Race Day Sunday, even though it requires a 6 hour time difference to see all the European races. Her dad joins her on the couch for these middle of the night races. She dons her jersey and prepares to cheer on Lando!

Liv's embraced life with a wisdom that is uncanny for her tender age. She sees beyond the narrative that's being sold hook, line and sinker to her generation. She told me she is most proud of what makes her happy in life and that's Lulu. As we talked about life, I noticed that Liv is wise beyond her years. I asked her where all this depth comes from and she grinned and pointed to her mom. That's a moment that mom will treasure all her days, along side these portraits that tell the story of her best girl!
